Leader of the Orchestra – Philippa Barton

Philippa studied at the Royal College of Music, during which time she led both the RCM Chamber Orchestra and the Young Musicians’ Symphony Orchestra.  She subsequently spent three years with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra before returning to London to freelance with orchestras such as the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the English Chamber Orchestra and the London Mozart Players.  Her solo performances have included Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Mendelssohn, Bruch, Bach, Mozart and Vivaldi concerti, Vaughan Williams’ Lark Ascending, Chausson’s Poeme and Brahms’ Concerto for Violin and Cello.

Philippa continues to enjoy a wide variety of work and leads a number of ensembles such as the Kings Chamber Orchestra, the Cornerstone Chamber Orchestra in Milton Keynes and the Essex, Colchester and Norfolk Symphony Orchestras.  She has had her busiest year to date as a soloist in 2016, having also performed Beethoven’s wonderful Violin Concerto with both the Norfolk and Colchester Symphony Orchestras.  She attempts to balance all this with a busy teaching practice and a fabulous family!
